Florence

Florence lies amidst Tuscany's rolling hills and divided by the Arno River, is almost at Italy's exact geographical center. Florence is a unique city of charm and good taste. A center of remarkable craftsmanship: a pure source of inspiration, patronized more than ever by art lovers and tourists in search of enjoyment, beauty and a lovely environment. The historic city centre is most representative of Florence. The layout of the district follows a road system created by the Romans. In the city center you will see the enormous, imposing structure of the Duomo, with its Brunelleschian cupola, a beautiful dome that adds splendor to the city skyline. The city has also preserved its medieval network of streets, lined with regular, geometric Renaissance palaces such as Palazzo Strozzi and Palazzo Medici-Riccardi, which once belonged to Florence's powerful, oligarchic families.

Places that are a “must see”: The Piazza del Duomo, the Accademia Gallery (Statue of David), the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo), Uffizi Gallery, Pitti Palace, Pharmacy of Santa Maria Novella, the Campanile (Giotto’s Bell Tower), the Baptistery (Battistero di San Giovanni), the Palazzo Vecchio and the Ponte Vecchio. We suggest signing up for an excursion to Pisa and the Leaning Tower or to Siena and San Gimignano. Contact the front desk at your hotel for more suggestions and reservations.
