Muerren
Muerren is a charming village with magnificent views and is perched on a shelf of Alpine pasture forming a balcony overlooking the steep cleft of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. It is an ideal place for travelers that wish to enjoy the natural beauties of Switzerland. Muerren is the highest altitude ski resort in the Bernese Oberland and looks onto a series of giant mountain peaks. This beautiful village is completely cut off from car traffic, and the sporting character of its ski slopes also account for the popularity of the resort. Muerren’s main attraction is the cable-car takes its breathtaking ride up to the Schilthorn summit, from where you can enjoy exceptional panoramic views and sip cocktails in the revolving Piz Gloria summit restaurant.

In winter enjoy the winter wonderland of the Muerren Schilthorn alpine ski region. In a varied skiing area the skier, snowboarder, free rider or winter hiker will always find the best route. Mürren is situated in the highest ski resort of the Bernese Oberlands. 53 km prepared ski slopes in and around Mürren (213 km slopes in the whole Jungfrau Region), chair lifts, cable cars, 6 chair lifts, 2 t-bars, 45 installations in the whole Jungfrau Region. 35 snow machines are installed to garantie snow sure conditions from Dezember to April altitude Skiresort from 1600 to 3000 meter above sealevel.

Schilthorn - Piz Gloria (2970m/9744ft)
The most spectacular 360° panorama in the Alps! Dine-and-wine in the world's first revolving restaurant at an altitude of nearly 3000 metres. Impressive views embrace some 200 snow-capped peaks, ranging from the Bernese Alps to Mont Blanc in France and Germany's Black Forest.
Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe (3454m/11333ft)
Snow and ice 100% guaranteed! The Sphinx observation hall, impressive Ice Palace and hiking plateau - these are the year-round attractions up on the Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe. Summer attractions include a skilift, husky-drawn sledging and adventure activities.
City Excursions
Berne
Beautiful Berne is only a two-hour rail trip from Muerren. This is a city of medieval magic, listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage. Attractions include the famous clock tower, the bear park - home to Berne's heraldic animals - and excellent shopping arcades.
Lucerne
One of Switzerland's most popular excursion destinations, lovely Lucerne is only 2.5 hours travelling time from Muerren. The city is renowned for its attractive townscape, historic Chapel Bridge and excellent shopping facilities. Take the Brunig-Railway via Interlaken Ost.
Rail Excursions
Zermatt
Full-day excursion by rail. The journey via Interlaken along the sunny southern flank of the Lötschberg provides a first impression of the breathtaking beauty of the Valais. From Brig, the route climbs through rugged valley landscape to Zermatt and the majestic Matterhorn. This popular excursion can also be combined with a trip by cogwheel railway up to the Gornergrat or with a cableway to the Klein Matterhorn.
Other Excursions
St. Beatus Caves open April - October. Switzerland's first and only underground cave museum - spectacular but safe. Explore this mysterious maze of stalactites, stalagmites, lakes and waterfalls to a depth of 3000 metres. From Muerren via train to Interlaken and on by ship, car, bus - or on foot along the historic Pilgrims' Path.
Cruise on Lake Thun or Lake Brienz
April – October (included with some Swiss Rail Passes!) Boats are operated on both of these beautiful lakes. Enjoy a leisurely cruise on a modern ship or one of the renovated stately steamers. Cruises depart in Thun (to Interlaken West) or in Interlaken Ost (to Brienz).
